RMHC Snowdon Challenge 2010 · 22 May 2010 ·
Hello and welcome to our fundraising page for RMHC.
On Saturday 22nd May, the four of us climbed Snowdon in order to raise money for RMHC (more information about the charity can be found on this page). We drove to our campsite, about 40 minutes stay from Snowdon, on Friday afternoon and pitched our tent.
We woke up at 6am Saturday, had some breakfast, put our tent away and left. We drove to the registration point and were given our pack (map, info etc). After a bus took us to the official start line some 4 miles away, we eventually began climbing at 9:35 (temperature 19°c) along the Pyg Track. After a few water breaks along the way we arrived at the top at 11:30 (temp. 24°c!) A fast pace is considered to be 1hour 40 minutes, an average pace to be 2 hours 35 minutes, so at 1:55 we did very well.
We stayed at the top for a while, resting and stocking up on water, before our 5 mile descent along the Llanberis Pass. This took us exactly 90 minutes.
Heavy bags, blisters, twisted ankles, stubbed toes, overheating and sugar overdoses aside, the day went very well and was a very good, fun experience, although surprisingly difficult, not least due to the scorching heat.
We will upload our photos in the next few days.
Thank you for taking to the time to donate, it is very much appreciated. Please give whatever you can.
Many thanks
Neil, Peter, Perry and Dan
