Hornsey Parochial Charities was set up in 1620 for “the maintenance of eight poor men of the Parish of Hornsey” Today, we continue to assist anyone with need who resides within the old parish boundary of Hornsey to alleviate the effects of poverty and promote educational and economic achievement.
We do this through the provision of grants in 3 areas:
1) Personal grants
To residents in need to help with essential items such as clothing, bedding for the cost of heating and lighting.
2) Educational grants
To young people under the age of 25 years to assist with education expenses or to prepare for a career, profession or further education.
3) Local organisation grants
To charitable organisations who provide homes or services for the elderly, infirm, homeless or other organisations providing services to the local community, including the provision of grants to schools, community and youth organisations.
