Not just eni MIND
My story: A week ago, marked 2 years since my surgery to repair a hole in my stomach. I was in intensive care for a while. I was physically unable to breathe without being connected to oxygen, unable to walk, drink or eat. I remember everyone around me telling me how lucky I was to be alive, but I still felt so hopeless. I thought it would pass once I was discharged, but weeks went by and nothing changed; my post-surgical depression had gotten worse. It was one of the most challenging times in my life, mentally and physically. But with the support of my amazing family, friends, doctors, nurses and MIND, I finally feel like myself again. This has encouraged me to want to help others who are experiencing difficulties with mental health problems.
Facts:
- Mental health problems are one of the main causes of the
overall disease burden worldwide.
- Mental health and behavioral problems are
reported to be the primary drivers of disability worldwide.
- Major depression is thought to be the second leading cause
of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the burden of
suicide.
- It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem.
MIND provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Being active really helped me get through a grey area of my life so what better way to create awareness than hold a 10 hour spinathon on the 3rd of May to raise money for the mental health charity, MIND.
I have friends who have struggled and still do struggle day to day with such an emotionally, debilitating disease. I would like to dedicate this to them, who I admire greatly.
Please donate and help make a difference.
Thank you,
Eni :)
