We 're working to bring treatments for Rett Syndrome home

Story

Okay, so it’s not 4040kms on a bike, nor is it the long term endurance of a 365 day challenge, nor is it a 60km hike. But sometimes, it’s important to let your husband feel like he’s outdoing you at something J  More crucially, it’s important to support him in his own crazy challenges by jumping on board too! So, to both these ends, I am joining Vincent’s Mid-Life Crisis Challenge Team, by  joining the Reverse Rett Team who will be walking ‘Across the Divide’ in the 40k challenge on the 9th May!

Of course, most of you reading already know the real reason why I will be taking on this challenge and asking, again, unashamedly, for your support and sponsorship.  I have written enough blurbs on justgiving pages and enough blogs and emails and letters and FB posts and website blurbs about why we do these things, and I think you all know by now.

However, what you might not know, even if you have been following our ‘story’, is that YOU really are making a difference. Reverse Rett recently announced that they are sponsoring the development of new clinical treatments in the UK. Without going into all the scientific jargon about what this means, you should know that this is a huge, exciting and incredibly hopeful step towards real treatments for our girls. For Hannah.

In addition to this announcement, Rett Syndrome Research Trust has also just announced research investments of $5.8 million. Again, I’ll spare you the precise details , but each of these projects is aimed at either alleviating the symptoms of Rett, or reversing it. This is money which YOU have helped to raise, research YOU are funding, hope YOU are giving to our girls. To Hannah.

If you have sponsored or supported us in the past, thank you. I know that you will understand why I am asking you, if you can, to do it again, because I believe that if you were standing in my shoes, you would keep on asking too. Go on, help us buy our daughters those one-way tickets out of Holland . . .
