Story

The Nottingham Children's Hospitals Baby MRI Appeal is the local charity cause chosen by students and staff at our school to support over the coming months.

Students from Nottingham High School will be undertaking many different activities across the School in order to raise money for Nottingham Children’s Hospital’s Baby MRI appeal - please donate generously!

The charity events are all being planned by our Student Leadership Team of Sixth-Formers and they are hopeful for the support of the wider High School community.

A number of student events will take place during a School Charity week from Monday 9th March where students can take part in a wide range of activities such as quizzes, donut sales, teacher penalty shoot-outs and a Charity Netball match between Netball and Rugby teams - all to promote awareness and raise money for the Baby MRI appeal.

This effort will peak in a school-wide activity undertaken by the pupils in years 7-10 on Friday the 13th March, where students from each of these year groups will ‘Go the Distance’ for the Baby MRI appeal, clocking up kilometres for an hour doing exercises such as: running, rowing, swimming, cycling, badminton, dance and football.  All of this is
organised by our Student Leadership Team, so a real student led charity fund-raising event.

All donations towards this local and noble cause would be gratefully received by the Nottingham Children’s Hospital, and would encourage our students to work even harder to raise awareness for this cause!

Baby MRI Appeal

Each year the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care units at
Nottingham Children’s Hospital treat thousands of babies.  Many will need MRI scans to aid their diagnosis and treatment to give them the best possible start in life.  The Baby MRI Appeal is our chance to
make a difference for sick newborn and neonatal babies.

The new ‘Baby MRI’ incubator will be an all-in-one scanning environment for babies, keeping them comfortable and protecting them from noise, reducing the need for sedation.   It will also be used in trials with babies with brain injuries who could benefit from innovative ‘brain cooling’ therapies.

Many thanks in advance to the wider Nottingham High School Community for any donations to our School Charity Appeal.
