Story

The Novice Running Club includes Beth Linley-Adams, Lucie Hett, Harriet Connor, Lauren Friend, Fiona Hollands- Hurst, Jamie Gillespie, Jonny Gillespie and myself. So don't be confused, when you donate on this page it is for all 8 of us as a group.

Thank you for taking the time to look at our page.

Four months ago Beth suggested that a few of us from school run the Cardiff Half Marathon & we have amazingly been joined by more willing friends! None of us are experts at long distant running (with the exception of one) so we all know that this is going to be a CHALLENGE!

We decided to run for my dad, Rod. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer last October and since then we have been on a rollercoaster journey. In May this year he was offered a place on a trial led by Cancer Research. They are looking to see whether an additional drug to chemotherapy will help patients in the future. The cost of the research and the drug itself is entirely funded by cancer research and it’s not cheap! As a charity they fund over half of the UK’s cancer research, so it is likely that you know someone who has benefited from the work they do.

Cancer research aims “to save lives; to add years; to make treatments kinder; to inform, prevent; to expel fear and to cure.” Not only do they allow the research to happen they also give support, information and campaign on key cancer issues.

We would all appreciate your sponsorship a great deal & I know that it will help us reach the finish line. It will especially mean so much to my Dad & myself knowing that we have your support.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.

So please get your bankcards at the ready, we’ve got £4000 to raise!!!

Grace
