Story
After the sucess of the first ever Nottingham Rugby Charity Cycle Challenge last year in March 2014 when 20 cyclist cycled from Leeds to Nottingham over 80 miles, leaving Leeds in the morning and arriving JUST in time for kick off at Nottingham to see the two teams face each other in the RFU Championship. We raised over 8,000 that day and plan for even more this year.
Having Teamed up for fundraisinng with Malk Hall, of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, this year we are raising money for Headway Nottingham (where face to face contact with head injury patients takes place), Headway UK and Fountaindale SEN school (who Malk has been raising money for previously).
The Nottingham Rugby Charity Cycle Challenge II is taking place on 17th April before Nottingham Rugby's last game of the Championship season. The riders will leave Nottingham Rugby's new home at Lady Bay and travel 100 miles before returning to the Lady Bay ground to watch the evening kick off game (as long as we get back in time!)
The route will incorporate local rugby clubs within the surrounding area, so look out for them at your club if you are a rugby fan! We have over 40 riders interested in taking part. If you'd like to register for the cycle, please email davidjackson51@hotmail.com (*registration ends 30th March).
* The Nottingham Rugby Charity Cycle Challenge was started by David 'Jacko' Jackson after he was forced to retire from rugby due to a head injury sustained in training. After 14 seasons and 25 years with Nottingham Rugby he want to use this experience for a positive outcome,
"when I needed the help of Headway I didn't know they existed, let allow the type of support I could have got! Thats why it's so important not to just raise money but also the awareness of the charity and change how people see and percieve head injuries" said Jackson.
