Story
Hello! My name is Nupur Ballal and I am a representative on the Junior Board for the Overlook Foundation at Kent Place School. We are currently raising funds for the Frank and Mimi Walsh Maternity Center. Overlook currently hosts roughly 2,600 deliveries per year, and we are limited with the current space. Maternal care is truly a cause that touches everyone's heart and home. Ensuring that every single mother and baby is taken care of in a private and individualized setting is of utmost importance. Furthermore, poor maternal and infant birth outcomes as well as health disparities among minorities and socioeconomic groups pose a pressing public health crisis, and Overlook is uniquely positioned to combat these issues. Having toured the mother-baby unit and heard how every detail has been carefully thought out to maximize efficiency and care, I can say the new unit will be truly invaluable in improving the mother-baby experience at Overlook.
Major renovations to the Frank and Mimi Walsh Maternity Center represent our continued commitment to providing outstanding family-centered care for our moms and babies. The expanded space will feature new cesarean-section suites, birthing suites, and all private postpartum rooms with enhanced proximity to a renovated NICU. Redesigned for maximum efficiency and collaboration of the maternity care team, the unit will be poised to welcome future generations with the kind of safe and soothing environment so essential to a calm patient experience.
