Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.

100 years ago the John Munro founded Munro's Shipbuilding, Repairing and Engineering Company, on Kerrera (Ardentrive Bay). Throughout the 20th century the business developed and grew to become a major institution in Oban. Tom Lennox, the founder's great-grandson, has written the story of the family's business and is supporting the RNLI by offering digital copies of his book "From a Trout Fly to a Steam Yacht" in return for a donation to the RNLI. The book is only available as a digital download and only from the RNLI.

For us to be able to send you the book you need to e-mail fundraising@obanlifeboat.co.uk, with 'Munro book' in the subject line. The file is almost 5Mb and you will be sent a link to download it directly. Your e-mail address will not be stored or used for any other purpose.

All proceeds will go to the RNLI, suggested minimum donation £5. Your donation will help support the running of lifeboat stations in Scotland, including here in Oban.

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
