Story

It is finally time, I'm joining the Royal Navy as a Regular, I've signed up for the next 12 years, and for that I must be clean shaven (at least initially).

I think we're all going to be sad to see what my face looks like these days without at least a partial covering. My chin hasn't seen daylight in over five years. Many of us joining up next week will have to give up our precious facial fluff to embark on our Naval careers. I'm sure many tears have been shed for the cause.

So why not use this opportunity to raise a little money for charity? Given the circumstances I thought it would be appropriate to give to a charity my family or I may one day require support from, that my new friends and colleagues may need. Any donation would go to a deserving cause supporting those serving in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, veterans, and their families.

About the charity

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is the principle charity of the Royal Navy. Beneficiaries lie at the heart of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity's purpose, it is our duty to remain focused on their needs. Since 2007, we have funded projects and facilities that boost morale for those who serve today. We also distribute millions of pounds annually to military charities which care for the children, families and veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
