During 19-days of August 2015 (Ashley, Lisa and Paul) will once again hitting the roads to spread OCD Awareness across the British Isles. But more than that they will be delivering a message to people with OCD that the road to recovery is a road worth travelling . This year Ashley and Paul will be cycling approx 1200 miles from John O’ Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall for our 2015 Ride4OCD Challenge.
Ride4OCD is primarily aimed at raising lots of awareness about the impact of OCD and the treatment inequalities from region-to-region, and funds for the national charity, OCD-UK, of which all three of us are heavily involved.
So to that end, we are not 'just' cycling fom JOG down to LE, we are creating a zig-jaz tour from the East to West to East Scotland, and from the East across to the West of England adding a few hundred miles to the traditional JOGLE route.
We will also be hosting support groups and OCD mini conferences throughout the ride, bringing people with OCD together and delivering a message that OCD can be challenging, but the road to recovery can be a journey that finishes with success.
We all have different reasons for getting involved, and later each of us will add our own personal statement to this page about why we are getting involved in Ride4OCD.
Our daily mileage will be about 75 miles for 19 days, and about 4000ft of hill climbing on average each day.
Not only will we be cycling 1200 miles, throughout the tour we intend to host four OCD support groups in regions where existing groups don't exist and four mini OCD conference events from Scotland to Cornwall.
But our challenge will be a significant mental, not just physical challenge for most of us. So your kind and generous sponsorship donation for our charity, OCD-UK, will be gratefully recevied but also will really help motivate us and ensure when our legs are ready to give up, we somehow find the strength to push up that final hill climb!
So for now, from Ashley, Lisa and Paul thank you for reading and if you are able to donate, we would appreciate it.
Cycle with us
If you wish to cycle with us for half a day, a full day or more, then more the merrier. Get in touch for details. Anyone fundraising over £100 will also be offered an OCD-UK cycle jersey.
For the tour and project we will be requiring 3 or 4 volunteer drivers to drive the support vehicle for 3-6 days each. We also require people willing to talk about their OCD for the media along the route, and corporate sponsorship. We also seek website designers and a logo designer.
