The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Within the last year, 16 Medical Regiment has lost two heroes in their battle against cancer, Major Huw (Taff) Jones and Major Mandy Islam. They were the epitome of what represents an officer in the British Army.  The value that both Taff and Mandy have added to the careers of their soldiers and fellow officers has been unmeasurable.  However, it is the way in which they both dealt with their fight against cancer which has driven the team to take up this challenge. Neither Taff nor Mandy ever gave up, they both continued to fight to the end, showing true stamina, grit and determination, all with an unwavering smile.

The Challenge:

A team of novice cyclists from 19 Squadron – 16 Medical Regiment will ride from Colchester to Pen Y Fan in  Wales (269 miles) and then complete the famous Fan Dance – 'tabbing' 15 miles carrying 35 lbs plus food and water, before turning around and cycling the 269 miles back to Colchester.

Please support the team by donating to this amazing charity,  MacMillan Cancer Support,  and keep them smiling as they battle with the steep climbs, the saddle sores, the weather and themselves to complete this event in memory of two true legends.

Please share this event with all of your family and friends. We never know just who this horrible disease will pick a fight with next.
