Ellesmere College OE and Staff Snowdon Run · 15 June 2019

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

On Saturday 15th June, a group of eager 'athletes', made up of 12 Old Ellesmerians and 12 Ellesmere College staff, will be running, in relay, the multi-terrain route from Ellesmere College to the summit of Snowdon. The route covers 69 miles of beautiful, undulating, Welsh countryside and will pose quite a challenge to our two teams of runners who will run alternate legs of the route in pairs.

Our teams will be running in memory of Matthew Dewhirst, a spirited Ellesmerian who sadly lost his life at the age of 17 due to an undiagnosed heart defect.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk
