The Great Ridge Challenge · 24 June 2023 ·

Since 2001, we have undertaken challenges and fund raising events to raise funds towards helping those who are diagnosed with cancer. The funds are used to finance projects where funding is not available via the NHS or other public bodies. To date we have raised over £719,000 helping 89 projects.

Story

The Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust UK will be doing a Charity Walk - Great Ridge Challenge in the Peak District on Saturday 24th June 2023.

We are raising funds to purchase an ultrasound scanner to be used in our ENT clinics for urgent referrals with possible Head and neck cancers. We run a one-stop clinic which allows clinical reviews, endoscopy and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of neck lumps for cytology. It will shorten the time to cancer diagnosis for patients and improve their outcomes.

I will be walking along with my colleagues in memory of Mr Andrew Baker (Consultant Maxillofacial and Microvascular reconstructive surgeon) who sadly died in an accident this year. May his soul rest in peace 🙏

Please give whatever you can to support early diagnosis and treatment of our populations referred with neck lumps that could be cancers or lymphomas. Thank you.
