Story
I have decided to say a great big thank you to all involved in my recent cancer treatment, by "Everesting" Brown Carrick Hill. I Have been cancer free for 3 years now, and to celebrate this great good fortune I would like to raise as much as possible for the NHS cancer services.
The challenge requires climbing the equivalent height of Mount Everest by performing repeated ascents of the Carrick Hill. From the main A719 coast road up to the aerials at the top. I plan to perform a total of 9000m of ascent, requiring 45 ascents of 200m each
The target is to complete these 45 ascents in 45 days.
I started this challenge on 30/3/2021, hopefully completing by 13/5/2021
My bicycle is not electric, pure pedal power. In addition, I am 71 years old, so a significant challenge. The bike is a Trek 29" x-Caliber mountain bike.
I was diagnosed in 2017 with a Stage 4 bowel cancer that had metastasised to the liver. The treatment provided by the NHS could not have been better, and I am still alive and fit enough to prove it.
An overview of the ascent can be found here:- https://veloviewer.com/segment/19521158
I will be tracking each ascent using Strava
