Story
My younger son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was just two years old.
Overnight, our family entered a world we knew almost nothing about — blood glucose monitoring, insulin, sleepless nights, constant planning and hundreds of daily decisions to keep a little boy safe.
Today he is an active, determined young boy who loves sport and enjoys life to the fullest. Thanks to advances in diabetes care, children like him can achieve amazing things. But Type 1 diabetes never takes a break. Every meal, every school day, every sporting activity and every night still requires careful management.
I am fundraising for Diabetes UK because I believe research, education and family support can change lives.
I also hope to raise awareness of the everyday realities of living with Type 1 diabetes. Many of the biggest challenges are invisible, especially in primary schools, where greater understanding can make a huge difference to a child’s confidence, safety and inclusion.
If sharing our family’s journey helps fund life-changing research, supports other families or encourages even one school to better understand Type 1 diabetes, then this fundraiser will have achieved something truly meaningful.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
