Story

I've been doing challenges for a while now & I have to thank the massive amount of support I have had along the way. You will hopefully be pleased to know that I now just plan to continue on indefinitely...

Help for Heroes has always been a charity close to home for me, and I always feel proud just going for a Sunday morning jog wearing their iconic colours. It's amazing how many people give you an extra shout along the way or in a event too... I may never know their name; just as likely they will never know my own, but the little familiar shout.."go-on help for hero"..I hear so often as I plod my way around a course always picks up my spirits.

My main achievement was completing the Marathon Des Sables in 2013, a lovely 6 day jaunt in the sahara running a total of 6 marathons... it was hot.

My other achievements include completing a little 10 day solo-cycle across the UK in 2011 and my very first triathlon which just so happened to be Ironman UK; I also happened to be competing alongside Joe Townsend & co. that year... Google him if you don't know.

Slightly more recently I completed Ironman New Zealand in March 2016 with my brother, supported by my mum who flew all the way from the UK just to support us... she used to be in the military too of course. I did this on minimal training having been run over by a small truck late last year.

Coming into 2019 and I can now say that my main event of the year is running Bristol Half marathon in fancy dress with my brother... we try and pick a more ridiculous outfit each year moving from Gorilla chasing a Banana, through to full suits, bowler hats and umbrellas or Mario Party Brothers! In 2019 we are going for full sized plush Pikachu costumes and of-course, always in support of Help For Heroes!

Anyway... I bring my H4H singlet along to all of these events and wear it with pride. I love promoting the brand and awareness of such a great charity wherever I can and I plan to continue to complete these kind of events and encourage any future donations I can.

Updates to follow...

Cheers, Oli
