My daughter Jasmyn was born with a little hole in her heart and the hospital, where she was born (I won't name it here) did scare us a lot by making it sound quite serious and we really thought, our daughter has got a life-threatening condition. Only when we went to the Children's Hospital in Sheffield we found out that it is quite common and most children grow out of it in a few months. Luckily this was the case with my daughter and everything is fine now. Having seen the dedication and commitment of the staff, the calm approach towards us parents and the professional attitude (despite the stress and hectic), made me choose this hospital as my preferred charity. We had to go there a few times for check-ups and a couple of times for a A&E visit with our then baby and everytime the staff was just amazing. Unfortunately the NHS made loads of monetary cuts and necessary equipment and training is difficult to get. Without fundraising it will be difficult to maintain this quality of care, hence my efforts.

My fundraising:

On 9th August 2013 I was invited to my daughter's old nursery, Flutterbies in Rotherham, where the kids were allowed to "re-style" me. The children had great fun using face paint to cover me completely in different colours from head to toe. I looked a right mess. :)

The nursery manager Emma Batterby organised a raffle prior to my visit, and donated the proceeds to my fundraising sum.

On 11th August 2013 I was riding from JE James Cycles in Rotherham to several pubs in the area (Sir Jack, Bramley - The Tabard, Herringthorpe - Story Teller, Parkgate) on my bicycle, to raise funds for the Children's Hospital Charity in Sheffield, which is very close to my heart due to personal experience mentioned above.

The customers and staff at these pubs were able to buy raffle tickets and the chosen winner was allowed to be really "mean" to me. I had my head shaved, my beard cut, was bombed with water balloons, etc.

On 25th August 2013 I will be part of the 3 Magpies pub event "Magfest" in Brinsworth, where I'll be tied to a tree and the customers will be allowed to throw balloons filled with (hopefully only) water at me for a small donation.

This event will conclude my fundraising event and I will hand over the raised sum to the charity. I hope that many will support me by donating as little or as much as they can.

Pictures of the events that took place already can be viewed on my Facebook page (link below).
