When I was 8 years of age I was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD and both my kidneys failed, after spending the next few years on two types of dialysis I finally received a kidney transplant. 2 days before the Tough Mudder challenge it will be my transplanted kidneys 12 anniversary so I’m going to run 10 mile with 20 obstacles to show that people who have received transplants can do anything an ‘ordinary’ person can do.

My girlfriend, Emily is also doing the challenge with me and we have donated to Tough Mudders Official partner Help for Hero’s, the money you donate will go to Kidney Research UK. There are thousands of people waiting for organ transplants and the majority are waiting for kidneys, there is no cure for kidney diseases, a transplant is just another treatment and I hope one day with Kidney Research UK they can find a cure for kidney disease.

Kidney Research UK is the leading charity dedicated to research into kidney disease in the UK. They rely almost wholly on the generous donations of the UK public and we believe that everybody deserves a life free of kidney disease.
