My name is Oli and I've been interning with Greater Change over the summer. Having seen the incredible work Greater Change does and the impact they have on people's lives, I was inspired to take part in the home sleepout this world homelessness day (8th October) and to raise money to support our clients' goals. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and if it's in the first £100 of donations then I'll match it.
Why a Sleep Out? A sleepout doesn't come close to what it's like to sleep rough and isn't meant to replicate it, but it does allow participants to gain a small insight into what it is like to have no warm bed to return to at night. Sadly, not having a home is the reality for many people. Many will be spending 2021 alone on the streets, in cars, hostels, squats or other unsuitable accommodation. Greater Change supports people who, with funding, can make long-term positive changes in their lives. We provide support to anyone who is homeless or at immediate risk of becoming homeless. We are incredibly proud to say that 70% of the people that we help get into and sustain long term accommodation, and that nearly 40% have secured gainful employment.
