Wings for Life - The Alpine Challenge

The Alpine Challenge · 8 September 2021
January 2019, my families life changed forever. After a freak accident at home, my Dad had suffered a significant neck injury. It very soon emerged that he had broken his C5 vertebrae, damaging the C4 area of his spinal cord.
From then on, we knew life would be different but didn't quite realise the impact it would have on everything and everyone. Despite the initial prognosis of being paralysed from the neck down, Dad has defied the odds through the treatment from our NHS, his unwavering determination and, through amazing kind nature and genuine love and support of friends, family and charities like Wings for Life and M2M.
Wings for Life & M2M are two charities that are close to my heart. Both doing amazing work and research in Spinal cord injury - with a special mention to Emma Hind who has become the 7th member of the family.
As of September this year I will be joining the Wings for Life team on the Alpine Challenge, traversing famous passes, staying in high mountain refuges and summiting one of the iconic 4000m+ alpine peaks. It will be a challenging yet rewarding few days!
The training starts now! I will keep you posted on my training, walking for hours and everything along the way...
Please do take a look at the work these amazing charities do and put your hand in your pocket, no matter how big or small.
