HD5K will take place on the 17th of May 2018 in Hyde Park, London

Story

Rufus's grandmother - Olly's mother in law - is suffering in the advanced stages of Motor Neurone Disease. It is an incredibly cruel disease which, after a long and active life, has trapped her in her own body, leaving her with her senses but damaging her nervous system, progressively removing all her physical capabilities. MND affects every aspect of her daily life, leaving her immobile and making it impossible for her to do the simplest things we all take for granted. There is no cure for MND.

She has been inspirational in her acceptance of her condition and in March, made a glider flight to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease research. Motivated by this, on Thursday the 17th May 2018, Rufus and I are running the HD5K in Hyde Park with 90 other runners to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association: https://www.mndassociation.org/. The run has been conceived and planned by architectural visualisation studio Hayes Davidson.

Amazingly, the Alan Davidson Foundation is supporting HD5K by match-funding the donations you contribute, meaning that every £1 Rufus and I raise (up to £500) will be doubled and the total donated to the MNDA, so please sponsor us and make your donation really count.

While 5 Km will feel like a marathon to Olly, Rufus is also running the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday 20 May 2018 - also in aid of the MNDA - so is doubly worth backing!

Please contribute as much as you can, knowing that all the funds raised will directly help to enhance understanding, improve care, enable research and raise awareness of this devastating disease.

Thank you for your support!

Olly and Rufus
