Oliver's 6 Runs in 6 Months Challenge
Oliver Beswick is raising money for St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother)
Story
This year I am taking on a big challenge for myself personally, which is partaking in 6 big running events over the next 6 months. I only started training 3 weeks ago for long distance runs and the furthest I have ever ran before to date was 10km, so this really will be a test for me.
I have decided to take on this challenge in order to raise much needed funds for St Michaels Hospice, in memory of three family members who were sadly taken due to cancer.
In May 2019, I sadly lost my Grandfather, Michael Beswick and Lauren (my wife) lost her Grandmother, Avril Breeds in July 2018 to cancer.
I also sadly lost my cousin Robert Bugden in January 2021 to cancer at the young age of 32. Just before Christmas 2020 Robert was discovered he had a rare form of sarcoma cancer and then less than a month later he was sadly taken from us.
I have decided to support St Michael’s Hospice for my challenge as the cause is very close to my heart. St Michaels Hospice have been brilliant in making the final moments of some of my family members the best they can be, and for that I want to thank them by helping to raise as much money as possible to help them
continue to support other people and their families in need.
The team at St Michaels Hospice makes the experience for both the patient and families grieving as much support as possible throughout the whole process, and I am forever grateful.
My Father, Russell Beswick owner of The Park Lane Group has generously agreed to be my main sponsor whilst I embark on this challenge. St Michaels Hospice is also close to the Park Lane Group, whom are big supporters of several local charities.
My 6 Run’s in 6 Months Challenge:
- The first of the six will be the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon on Sunday 19th February which will be my first half marathon I will have even done.
- The second of the six will be the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday 26th March.
