Our 9 year old son, Oliver - a Year 4 student at Ixworth Primary School - has always had a very big heart, and over the last few years, he has also grown very long hair.  A big part of the reason for this is that he has been waiting patiently for it to get to the length at which he can donate at least 7” of it to Little Princess Trust.  Oliver has been so inspired by many of his friends raising money and awareness for various charities in recent years and has been keen to rise to his own challenge:  what could be easier than growing your hair to donate?  It may seem simple, but the result is fantastic!  Oliver has watched me donate lengths of my own hair on two occasions, alongside a stage full of inspiring students and staff at Thurston Community College where I teach, and he knew he wanted to do the same.  Something so simple for us can make the world of difference to someone else in a different situation. 

Little Princess Trust is a charity who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions, as well as supporting the development of less aggressive and less toxic cancer treatments. 

Oliver would love any support you feel you could offer, not an easy ask after the year we’ve all been through we know.  A smile and encouragement in the village will go a long way; alternatively, a small donation to his sponsorship page will go towards the cost of the wigs.  From receiving hair donations through to fitting and styling a bespoke wig, it costs the charity from £550 to provide a real-hair wig free-of-charge, to wig recipients, so this is Oliver’s fundraising target!
