Oliver's bow-tie appeal

This page has been set up in memory of Oliver Marshall Clark, both to celebrate the life of young man with intelligence and wit beyond his years, and to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Oliver died suddenly on 1 May 2012 age just 19 years old. He was diagnosed with Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy at the age of 16 but this was not something that ever held him back from living life to the full. He could light any room up with his smile alone and brought sunshine into other people's lives.
Staff and students at Framwellgate School Durham began fundraising in Oliver's memory at their 2012 "Bow-tie Thursday", an annual charity event which Ollie always enjoyed taking part in.
Oliver was regarded highly by all around him, to quote just a few of those people:
-"He brought a vibrant positivity to the room, a desire to learn and an intellectual curiosity that raised the bar for others to leap for"
-"His dry wit and 'knowing' sense of humour reflected a great maturity for one so relatively young"
-"It would be wrong not to acknowledge Oliver's desire to be a dedicated follower of fashion and the Sixth Form was certainly the stage on which his various haircuts, hats, sunglasses, shorts and questionable footwear were best displayed"
-"He made a wonderful impression at Oakley and very many people enjoyed his company and his friendship so much"
-"We shall remember him as a debonair, bright, confident young man... and a good-looking one too!"
We're so sad to have lost Ollie, and he will be greatly missed by so many people - extended family, friends, former teachers and mentors and especially his close family and girlfriend. We hope that by helping to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, something positive can come out of our loss.
