With your support we hope to draw attention to the plight of our song and other small birds and fund research into the causes of their decline in order to help promote solutions to restore songbird numbers.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

I will be doing a sponsored silence on Saturday 9th October. I will be doing it for 3 hours from 3 o'clock until 6 o'clock which as long as the dawn chorus can sometimes last.

I am doing this silence because I am very worried about our songbirds. I am particularly worried about song thrushes, house sparrows, tree sparrows, nightingales and grey wagtails. There are lots of reasons why birds are endangered, for example some birds catch bugs in the air and since the number of bugs is decreasing, they are finding it difficult. Another reason is habitat loss from trees being cut down. Lots of birds get trapped in litter and plastic waste on the ground that they think is food or things for their nest.

The Songbird Survival charity do lots of research to help our songbirds, I am fundraising for them because I think they are doing a very good job.

This will be a particularly hard challenge for me because I like to talk quite a lot at home. I am a bit of a chatterbox, so I am not sure having a 3 hour silence is going to work!

Please sponsor me and help make sure the songbirds don’t go silent too.
