London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

This will be my second London marathon after having the opportunity to run 2019 for Sense. I am nervous once again but I am so excited and pumped to be part of that supportive team and try and beat my current time. I suffered with a knee injury at mile 20 and want to be able to run past tat mile marker without an ounce of pain in 2020.

I know for a fact I will be easy to spot in the large crowd of runners as I have an unfortunate issue that as soon as I run for at least a minute, my face represents a tomato. So if you will be there cheering me on and all the others keep an eye for a humanoid fruit. I'll make sure to update this page and my instagram (@thumbtaco) with my redness!

The reason I'm fundraising for Sense is I believe the work they do needs to be commended highly. They are a national charity that supports people with complex communication needs, including those who are deaf-blind, to be understood, connected and valued. They are there for every person who faces communication barriers in a world that relies on being able to see and hear well to be connected. Together, we can unlock barriers to communication so no one is isolated, left out or unable to fulfil their potential.
