Story
A small silver lining of the National Lockdowns in England in 2020 & 2021 was that I had the time and space to do something I'd wanted to do for a while and get fit and start running regularly. I started with Couch to 5K before moving on to a 10K training programme, and was supported and cheered on all the way through by my friends and family. But for so many women in the UK, the lockdowns were their worst nightmare come true: over two-thirds of survivors responding to a Women’s Aid survey in April 2020 reported that domestic abuse had escalated during the pandemic. In the first two weeks of lockdown Women's Aid saw a 41% increase in users of their Live Chat support function.
I'm inspired by the work that Women's Aid do to help women and children affected by domestic abuse and I wanted to raise money for them by running the ASICS London 10K 2021. Please help me help them by sponsoring me for this run. The more people that know about Women's Aid the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page.
Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot! x
