Team: Remembering Joe Surtees
Joe Surtees was a friend of mine at Bristol university and was diagnosed with leukaemia the year I was doing my postgraduate degree. This was shocking news for all of our friends and none of us imagined he would actually pass away. The day of his funeral I found out I had been accepted to do a Phd in New Zealand with research in Papua New Guinea. It seemed deeply unfair that life could be like this, but it also gave me some perspective on taking opportunities when they come, even if they are scary. I have often thought of Joe whilst I have been here and still think its ridiculously unfair when people get cancer so young. I now join my friends back in the UK, with new friends here in NZ, to raise money for leukaemia and lymphoma research. Thanks to Cameron Ellis and Daniel Mar for joining me in this challenge! :) Please give anything you can, its all welcome.. xxxxx
