MESSAGE FROM NICKY AND MARTIN (Mummy and Daddy) x
Our Daughter, Olivia Rosemary Lauer, was born on Friday 6th July 2012 at 10.21pm, weighing a healthy 9lb 10oz, at Hull's Women and Children's Hospital.
Olivia was sadly born sleeping.
We were told that Olivia's heart had stopped a day earlier, we were totally devastated and never dreamt of this happening to us.
Before delivery we were asked if we would like to have Olivia with us overnight. We had not even considered this, plus we did not know how we would feel once Olivia was delivered and what was involved.
Upon delivery we were offered a 'cool cot' for Olivia, this is a modified 'chilled' cot designed to preserve a baby after stillbirth. Although sad, but also happy to see our beautiful girl, we accepted without hesitation.
We were so grateful that we had Olivia with us for two precious days due to this cot and will cherish every second that we had the opportunity to spend with her.
The following day we decided to ask how many cool cots the ward had and were informed that there was only one. We also learnt that a couple had also lost their baby just after Olivia had been born. Although on this occassion the cool cot was not required it concerned us greatly that these parents could have missed out on those precious moments.
This has now led us to this page as we would like to donate another Cool Cot in Olivia's memory to the Women and Children's Hospital in Hull - something the fantastic midwife team tell us is much needed.
The cost for this is £2500 - or £2,000 with the benefit of Gift Aid.
WHERE DO THE SMILE FOUNDATION COME IN?
Both of us have a close relationship with The Smile Foundation through our work.
We approached Andy Barber, Charity Manager, and asked him if we could fund raise for Olvia's Cool Cot Appeal via Smile, but recieve 100% of the monies PLUS Gift Aid towards the new Cool Cot - Andy agreed.
PLEASE HELP US HELP OTHERS - IN THE WAY WE HAVE BEEN HELPED.
All our love,
Nicky, Martin, William, George and Olivia - The Lauer Family xxxxx
Any monies raised over the £2500 will be also be contributed towards another cool cot. We may keep going - you never know.
Funeral for Olivia will be held at North Ferriby church Thursday 19th July 2012 at 11am.
