Story

Last week my beautiful Nanny Joyce Wells came to the end of her battle with an evil form of cancer called Mesothelioma. It is a rare cancer which can be caused through exposure to asbestos however it can take 50 years to be in the body before any cancerous symptoms start. It took a long time for her to be diagnosed by different hospitals due to the lack of knowledge surrounding this particular cancer.

It is important for me to remember my Nan not by how she died but by the person she was. Every friends of mine of family member who met my Nan will know exactly how special she was. She would not want be sat at home moping around feeling sad but instead to be out there doing the little bit I can to help others. Even in the final weeks my Nan continued to help others through her 5 hour long counselling sessions on the end of her hospital bed with other patients.

I have been inspired to therefore carry on her sweet caring generous legacy by raising funds and awareness for every form of the evil disease, especially the rare ones. The more funds that are raised the more research will go into these cancers and hence raise awareness. Hopefully provided earlier diagnosis and a better chance of controlling or even beating it.

Rhys and I are going to do the Stand Up For Cancer March on Saturday 11th October which I intend to be the first of many fundraisers.

Thank you Thank you
