British Gas Great London Swim 2010 · 3 July 2010 ·

We believe every moment matters so we go above and beyond to help our patients and their families make the most of every moment they have left. All our services are free of charge. We receive 33% of our funding from the NHS and rely on donations to raise the extra £13m we need each year.

Story

Thanks for dropping in (see what I've done there?) to my fundraising page for the two swimming challenges I'm taking part in this summer supporting Trinity Hospice.  On 3 July I did the Great London swim - one mile in the Thames Docklands - and on 5 September I'll be swimming Lake Windermere with (for those who don't know her my very good friend) Jo Webb.  See www.greatswim.org/ for details of the events.

Founded in 1891 Trinity Hospice was England's first, and it continues to provide care and support to over 2,000 patients and their families every year both at the hospice and in patients' homes.  See www.trinityhospice.org.uk/ for more information.  They rely on donations for the majority of their funding so I ask you all to be as generous as you can.  I know there are lots of worthwhile charities out there and money is tight at the moment for everyone but anything you can give will help (and please don't forget to tick the 'UK taxpayer' box if applicable which will add 28% to your donation).

And if that isn't enough to convince you to support me then bear in mind the humiliation factor of me having to wear a wetsuit to protect myself from the cold which will no doubt make me look like an out of shape mermaid with the head of David Mitchell from Peep Show!

And for those of you who are new to Justgiving this is how it works...

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Many thanks.

Ollie
