Our story

In 2014, Ollie's Heroes was formed. A rabble made up of friends and family of Ollie Dodds, not exactly Team Sky, we foolishly agreed to cycle from Lands End to Lichfield - a total distance of 360 miles. After barely 3 months of training we set off on the long drive down to the end of the country. Hill by hill passed and we sat in quiet terror, knowing that the only way to get home was through the power of our legs.

5 days later we rolled into Cathedral Close in Lichfield having raised £7000 for Operation Ollie and with a huge sense of achievement and satisfaction.

Now, 18 months on, we're getting back to the training with a brand new challenge ahead: Lichfield to Paris. 390 miles in 4 days over the August Bank holiday weekend.

Here's why:

'Lord' Ollie Dodds is a bright, sweet natured little 4 year old who loves wrestling, spinning stories and playing with his brother, sister and cousins. Ollie was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was a baby, leaving him unable to walk or use his limbs properly as they were affected by severe spasticity, causing pain and discomfort.

After a huge effort led by his mom and dad Hayley and James, £60,000  was raised to pay for Ollie to receive pioneering SDR surgery at the St Louis Children's Hospital in the US. This took place in 2015 and was a huge success- Ollie is visibly happier, has gained heaps of confidence and massively reduced the spasticity in his legs.

However, unfortunately Ollie's rehabilitation journey is a long one, requiring ongoing intensive physiotherapy to build the muscle strength in his legs and maximise the benefits of his surgery whilst he is still young and growing.

We're hoping to raise £10,000 to help fund this important physiotherapy for our little hero and keep him going on his amazing transformation. Please support us if you can. Your generosity is hugely appreciated.

Big thanks
