Ollie's 2014 Borneo Expedition

2014 Borneo Expedition · 21 September 2014
This autumn I will be joining a 13-week expedition in Borneo volunteering as an Expedition Medic for Raleigh International. Raleigh is a youth and sustainable development charity which runs expeditions and volunteering programmes abroad for people from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities.
For 13 weeks I will be getting stuck into sustainable community and environmental projects whilst providing medical support in some of Borneo’s most remote villages. I will be volunteering on projects to improve health and educational services, helping to make a genuine difference. I addition, I will also take part in a challenging trek through the jungle in Borneo.
The money raised will go to support Raleigh's work in the UK and overseas. Without donations, Raleigh would be unable to run meaningful sustainability projects which are designed to create a positive impact in the communities and areas in which they take place.
In addition, Raleigh has a bursary award available for young people from the UK to go on Raleigh's expedition programme. As a charity, Raleigh works hard to make sure that their programmes are accessible to everyone, recognising that not everyone's personal situation is the same so they offer bursaries to go to Tanzania, Costa Rica & Nicaragua or Borneo.
