Story
As many of you may know Horatio's Garden is an amazing charity building and running gardens in NHS Spinal Injuries units to improve the wellbeing of patients who have had devastating spinal injuries and have long stays in hospital trying to rehabilitate. We all know the importance of gardens and nature for our own wellbeing and it has become clear that having a garden as a place for quiet contemplation, privacy and reflection can really benefit recovery for patients, their families and friends following such a trauma. The Gardens also host many activities and events which enhance recovery. Visit the website https://www.horatiosgarden.org.uk to read more.
Cameron and I signed up for the gruelling (well it is at our age and with our physique!) Prudential London100 cycle ride challenge this year to raise money for the next Horatio's Garden in Cardiff. https://www.horatiosgarden.org.uk/the-gardens/horatios-garden-wales/
The ride was due to take place on August 16th but has, unfortunately, been cancelled. Instead we are cycling the first stage of the LEJOG from Lands End to Bude (140miles) and Hamish and Sophie are joining us too which is great news!
We have been training hard through lockdown and more recently up on the Downs and in Cumbria where hills really are hills!
We would be so grateful if you could support us and consider donating to this wonderful charity that is clearly doing so much good for so many people. An Horatio's Garden in Cardiff would be of huge benefit to all those who are unfortunate enough to have spinal injuries in Mid-Wales, Gloucester, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
Thank you so much.
The Hatrick family x
