Story
In August I will be going away to volunteer for 2 weeks with Tearfund in Zambia!
However, I need lots and lots of help with fundraising for the charity that I'm going with, so here is a bit about it and what the trip involves!
I will be joining in with the world of Tearfund in Zambia and spend two weeks living and learning alongside their partner, the Jubilee Centre.
Jubilee Centre also runs HIV/AIDS Youth Action Clubs which aims to promote prevention and anti-stigmatisation messages and support young people to resist the pressure of being sexually active outside of marriage. Two weeks in Zambia will both challenge me personally and stretch my faith. I will get to experience how the local church is at the heart of tackling poverty and injustice and have the chance to show God's love in practical ways as I visit and learn from inspirational communities.
The type of projects I will be involved in may include but not limited to:
* Spending time building relationships with individuals receiving treatment at a local HIV centre
* Working with youth and young adults through self-discovery workshops
* Supporting the Child Feeding Programme
* Visiting and praying with vulnerable adults
* Teaching and leading activities at local schools
* Engaging and working with the local church and community
Tearfund is a Christian charity, that helps communities overcome the worst effects of poverty and disasters because they believe that the same people who face these issues, also have the best ideas as to how they can overcome them.
Tearfund works alongside local churches and other locally-based organisations in over 50 countries to help people realise their plans for a better future.
The money raised helps to make a huge difference for developing countries and allows the charity continue their amazing work and I am really excited about this project.
