Story

Salam all,

Thank you for coming to the site. I will hopefully be trekking up Ben Nevis (the highest peak in Britain) on 21st May 2011, as part of the Muslim Aid Challenges in 2011. The cause is a great one, and one that is crucial to life itself, something that we in the West take for granted - clean water.

A combination of drought, failed harvests and the rise in global food prices has left at least 7 million people facing hunger in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland and Sudan (OCHA). As a result, communities are left without water and are forced to migrate. The only water sources that remain are boreholes and unfortunately these are rare.

Therefore the money raised will go to communities in Africa and help to provide clean and safe drinking water through Muslim Aid’s water projects. This will help communities to provide their families with nutritional food and healthy livestock.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.

So please dig deep and donate as much as you can.

Thank you,

Omar
