Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've had two children in the last 4 years. This is a major change in anyone's life. Having become a father has really focused my attention on the suffering of many children in our world. Be it due to war in the middle east (14 million children have been impacted). Or closer to home where 58,000 children in the U.K. were identified as needing protection from abuse in 2016.

There were a total of 54,898 sexual offences against children recorded by the police in the UK in 2015/16. It's a shocking statistic.

The subject of child sexual abuse is one that most people feel uncomfortable talking about. I personally think it's one of the most horrible things that could ever happen to a child: Abuse robs children of their childhood. Without help, the scars of abuse can last a lifetime. And as devastating as it can be for the child, society pays a heavy price too.

I've decided to raise some money for the NSPCC by running the 2018 London Marathon with the goal of completing it in below 4 hours.

The NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. They help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.

I hope you can all chip in!

Thanks!

Omar
