New Year’s Day NovaCross

JANUARY 1ST 2017

So what’s that I hear you say… NovaCross… what on
earth is NovaCross?

Every new Year’s Day for the last 3 years, 700+
rather crazy and hopefully not hungover cyclists have entered an array of Cyclocross races at Ripley Castle.

But times are a changing and this New Year’s Day
Cyclocross will be on the Conyngham Hall grounds in Knaresborough and now as an official UCI event is known as NovaCross

(PS the UCI is cycling’s governing body which
means there will be some famous riders there
)

As Harrogate’s longest established cycling club, Harrogate Nova, who organize the aforementioned fun and shenanigans have for this year (well next year’s event if we are being pedantic) chosen to raise funds for Henshaws. With  centres across the North of England, including Knaresborough and Harrogate, Henshaws enables people living with sight loss and a range of  other disabilities to exceed their expectations, enriching their lives and those around them.

But that’s not all…

We are thrilled to have Steve Bate (who with only
10% vision won two Gold medals at this year’s 2016 Paralympics) riding as stoker (the person on the back) on a tandem with local cycle guru and world renowned
bike journalist, Guy Kesteven around the NovaCross course.

We are hoping with this exciting news and quite unique
event and the help of generous locals like yourself, to raise £1000+ towards a bike shed for the amazing folk at Henshaws.

So if you could find in your heart to donate a pound or two, to help some fabulous people, who do amazing work for some incredible people, I’m sure our double Gold medal winning Steve Bate and that poor chap on the front having to steer, will feel their epic journey round the course was made just that bit more worthwhile

And the best bit till last…

You can all come down and watch it for FREE on
New Year’s Day in and around the grounds of Conyngham Hall

Steve Bate and Guy Kesteven will be racing the
tandem in the Adults Go-Cross at 10.02am and the rest of the days races are listed below

Timetable:

– 10:00 Youth Race (30 mins)

– 10:02 Adults Go-Cross (MTB’s Allowed / SSCX)
Race (30 mins)

– 11:00 U8/U10/U12 Race (20 mins)

– 12:00 Vet Men 40-49 (NO MTB) Race (40 mins)

– 12:02 Vet Men 50+ (NO MTB) Race (40 mins)

– 13:00 Women (NO MTB) Race (40 mins)

– 14:00 Senior Men (NO MTB) Race (60 mins)

– 14:01 Junior Men (NO MTB) Race (60 mins)

Wrap up warm, blow away that NYE hangover with
some fresh Yorkshire air and most of all have a giggle with a really great bunch
of people

It WILL be epic

See you there!!!
