Story
In September 2015, I started running, to get fit and get out in the fresh air. A few weeks later I was told that my Mum had a lump and that she was going to have an operation. Even at the age of 27 I still didn't really comprehend what that meant, and it was only when I went to visit my Mum in hospital after the op that I fully realised what had happened.
I had decided to run a half marathon to raise money for Breast Cancer, and then decided that wasn't far enough so went for a marathon as well and on 17th April 2016 I completed the Brighton Marathon in 4:22:28.
Apparently that wasn't enough for me..... In May 2016 I joined the UK Touring of Billy Elliot the Musical aiming to run a race at every venue. Having completed, a half in Bradford, Swansea Half, Dublin Half, Great Scottish Run (Half), Bristol Mo-Run (10k), Man United Santa Run (5k), London Winter 10k, and the Brighton Half, the culmination is the BIG one....the London Marathon.
Now having finished my time on Billy, I work on the brand new rock n roll musical 'Bat Out of Hell', which is hopefully how I'll run the race!
This isn't a sob story, its not a sad story, its just mine, and unlike a lot of people, I'm very lucky that my Mum is very much alive and healthy and has been on the finishing line of a lot of my races, and that's why I'm raising money. To give researchers and medical staff every possible chance of beating breast cancer; so that others don't have to go through this hideous illness.
Here's a stark fact: 1 in 8 women in the UK will get breast cancer at some point in their lifetime.
Please please donate. Everything you give goes straight to the charity, and if you can gift aid then even better! If you've been affected by breast cancer, know someone who has, a big fan of running, or simply someone who just wants to give away some money, then please give as much as you can.
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram by searching for 'One Every Venue'.
Thanks,
Ben Xx
