Story

Latest update... Due to the fantastic response we've had to our cycling feat, we've updated our target to reflect the full amount needed in order to finish the new home we're building for the White Eagles (for more info about who the White Eagles are, scroll down or visit our website here. There's talk of doing more bike rides too as we strive to reach £25k as soon as possible - But for now, we'll continue to recover from the ordeal of the last one!

After a slightly inauspicious start - Dan losing his pedal before we'd even gone a mile, Sarah's bike skidding to a halt every time she turned right cos of a trapped cable and a saddle somehow coming off - we all (eventually) got into Blackpool in time for the last coach home! Some of us ended up seeing rather more of Lancashire than we fancied, after missing a turn...

So a MASSIVE thank you to all of you who have donated in aid of the bombastical badboy White Eagle bredrins and if anyone is coming to this site still wanting to donate - it's not too late!

And another MASSIVE thank you to Andy, Ming, Dan, Mark, Eddy, Sarah, Christina and Timoth for enduring one of the most batty punishing activities of all time. It's been emotional. Till next year then... :)

Previously on OnYerBikeforRiverofLife...
We've had to have some team changes - Katharine has been badly injured in training this week - she came off in a thunderstorm :( thankfully nothing's broken, but she's not going to be fit to bike 60 miles sadly.

So with zero preparation, and with only 60 hours to go before the big day, Dan the big man has stepped up to take Katharine's place. He just about knows which end of a bike is which...

And, I'm so excited about this I almost wet myself, we can also break the extraordinarily exciting news that, all the way from Masaka, Uganda we have the bombastical, the legend, the flippin hero the Rev Timothy R Crow AKA Rabu Ragtoe AKA the Rabumeister AKA simply, Timoth and White Eagle Daddy himself c'mon! c'mon! YES! BRAP!!! . He's flown 4,000 miles back to blighty specially early to join us - there was something about surprising his beautiful girlfriend too, but what dedication! What commitment!

So my friends, reach deep into your pockets if you can, and help us reach our target!

Here's the grizz - We're biking from Manchester to Blackpool in aid of the White Eagles Project run by River of Life Church, a project that gives a home to former streetkids and other vulnerable children in Masaka, Uganda. They've made do with some simple rooms up till now, but as they're helping more and more kids, a new home is needed!

You can download more information about the Boys Home from our website - just click here

None of us are pros, apart from Eddy, but cycling 60 miles through Northwest England, where no doubt it'll be raining cats and dogs and blowing a gale, is our chance to show our support to this fantastic project, and raise some much needed cash.

So, the new Team is:
Rob "I bought a new bike so better use it" Davies
Andy "so did I" Rous
Ming "my tyres are a bit wobbly" Fernandez-Arias
Mark "fancied the challenge" Cartmell
Eddy "definitely wearing the yellow jersey" Gonzalez
Sarah "Are there any fat and unfit people that I can cycle with?" Giles
Dan "I've got to have a decent bike to carry me - I don't want it buckling under my weight" Fernandez-Arias
Christina "Rob, am I going to die?" Robertson
And Rabu Timothy Crow. Nuff said.
