To mark the 20th anniversary of Karen's untimely passing and the establishment of the KMMT, we are asking people to donate at least £20 to help more people living with leukaemia today.

Story

Oona died on 4th October 2018 following a 19 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.  For the past year she received incredible care from the Hammersmith’s Haematology Department under her most excellent consultant Dr Eduardo Olavarria.  Oona underwent four rounds of chemotherapy and a successful haploid stem cell transplant (donated by her daughter), including nearly five months awake and fighting on Intensive Care.  Devastatingly Oona contracted infections resistant to antibiotics and her leukaemia eventually relapsed. Following a catastrophic event, Oona’s health deteriorated acutely but she fought for her cure right up to the very end.

Karen’s “homes from home” was made available to us, Oona’s family, at the Hammersmith hospital.  It was an absolute godsend, especially in the last five weeks of mum’s life when the leukaemia returned as it meant we could maximise the time we spent with her whilst she was on Intensive Care.  It was so warm and homely, when we were feeling so utterly distraught.

In lieu of a traditional funeral with flowers, Oona’s friends are invited to donate to the Karen Morris Memorial Trust.
