Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Let's try this again, shall we?!

I'm running for Muscular Dystrophy UK, as they've given us a huge amount of help with our son Alex, who suffers from Becker. It's a genetic muscle-wasting condition that's left him unable to walk more than a few metres at a time, and unable to use a regular wheelchair as it also affects his other limbs too, so he doesn't have the strength to roll himself around. There are other effects on him that it brings, and I'm trying to raise funds to go into the research to find a cure through genetic testing that the charity provides funding for.

So, what's this challenge all about? In short - as below.

Part 1 - Equinox 24, 18-19th September. A 24-hour team relay, where myself and 3 friends are taking part in a 24-hour event of 10k laps, as many as we can! I expect that I'll be doing around 6 of those.

Part 2 - London Marathon - 4th October (2 weeks after Equinox 24) - THE marathon everyone wants to do. I'm aiming to get this done in under 4 hours. Well, that's the plan and I'll be doing everything I can to get me there.

Part 3 - Manchester Marathon - 11th October (the week after London!) - this I expect will be the most difficult one, especially given the previous few week's efforts.

I'm aiming to get as prepared as possible for this, and despite the events themselves being the headlines, it's the training that gets you to the start line. My training this year is being ramped up, as I really, really need to get these done without injury - they've GOT to be finished. 12 days into the year and I'm at 50 miles under the belt already, and this will be a theme for the year!

If you can spare a few quid, please do. Every penny counts, and it means the world to us.
