"1/4 year, no beer" · 18 September 2019

We provide information and support to help people experiencing mental health issues improve their wellbeing. We campaign for better services, raise awareness, and promote understanding, working across Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale, Bury and NE Lancashire.

Story

At Optima, we firmly believe in putting something back into the local community and have partnered with a local mental health charity; Rochdale and District Mind to do that.

Rochdale and District Mind exists to ensure that people in the region do not face mental health issues alone and can lead their lives free from stigma and discrimination.  It also works to ensure that everyone who experiences mental health and wellbeing issues receives the respect and professional support they deserve. Promoting understanding of these issues in the wider community and making sure that anyone who is suffering knows how to seek confidential support from experienced professionals is particularly important.

Following our "Sober October" fundraiser last year, the team at Optima will be upping the ante this year.

Last year's participants, Ryan Lockett & Kyle Davies, supported this year by newbie Grace Brewer, her partner Liam Jennings and Kyle's fiancée, Becky Martin, will be going sober for a total of 92 days 1/4 of the year!!

Given that it's their first venture into prolonged sobriety, our Gail (Abi Kirkpatrick) & Krystan Best will be matching our efforts from last year throughout their own "Sober October" in support of the charity.

Please give whatever you can to support this great cause.  Every donation helps Rochdale and District Mind to offer more services such as telephone support, information booklets, support groups and mental health awareness courses completely free of charge.
