Story
Optimus may have grown over the years but that hasn’t derailed the community ethos that has been central to the company since its inception in 2006. Even with Optimus-pm being acquired by the global industry leader Gen3 Marketing, the hard work still goes on to support the local community and beyond.
The Optimus team works tirelessly for their clients but like to put back into their hometown and give meaning to the social side of teamwork through charitable events. This starts from the top down with CEO Mark Russell encouraging the team to take part in fundraising events throughout the calendar year. Members of the Optimus team have signed up to abseil an astonishing 65 feet from the top of Plymouth Argyle Football Club to raise money for two charities, Hugs for Henry and Rock2recovery. Following two postponements due to the pandemic, the team are now set to complete this in June 2021. The team at Optimus fully support the campaign and are looking forward to the event, even if a few are afraid of heights!
The Optimus team have taken part in many events over the years and none more so than Optimus veteran Martin Hart. Martin will have been at the company for 13 years in July and last year took on an epic fundraising challenge as he walked 118 miles for Cancer Research. Over five days, Martin walked from Dartmouth to Mevagissey, breaking the journey down into sections. Starting at Dartmouth, Martin travelled through Torcross, Salcombe, Bigbury, Plymouth, Whitsand, Polperro, Charlestown and finally ending at his destination in Mevaggissey, a truly remarkable feat.
It wasn’t just Martin doing the walking, as the entire Optimus team put in place a pledge to walk over 250 competitive miles in 2019. With their trainers on, they tackled half marathons from across the region including Plymouth and Bristol, a midnight walk and even an inflatable 5K in Torbay to help them to their 250 mile target, raising hundreds of pounds in the process.
So, whilst 2021 will see Optimus aiming for new heights in the Affiliate Marketing world, June will see them looking down as they abseil from the top of Plymouth Argyle Football Club on June 20th.

Meet the team.....
I am terrified of heights and genuinely get light headed going into the attic so hope I make it down without giving myself a heart attack! I am always happy to do anything for Hugs though, as the very tiniest percentage of funding from the big cancer charities go to researching children's cancers. After the year we've had, it's more important than ever to support an incredible charity, even if it means facing my biggest fear by scaling the height of Home Park.

As one of the most recent members of Optimus-pm, I have heard many stories of all the amazing fundraising events that the staff have been involved with over the years and I’m excited to take part in my first event. I’m up for any challenge thrown my way and what better way to get involved than abseiling off a football stadium. Determined to raise lots of money for such a valuable charity.
Emma - Account Executive
I will be heading into this charity abseil totally out of my comfort zone, but I am ready for the challenge with such a worthwhile charity behind it. I have been at Optimus-pm for over four years and our charity fundraising projects have always played a huge part during that time. I will be very nervous on the morning of the event but I’m sure the Optimus-pm team will help me get through it.
Ellie - Account Manager
I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to support such a phenomenal charity by abseiling off Home Park. I used to watch Plymouth Argyle play there every week when i was a young boy and never in my life did I believe I would get the opportunity to do something like this. I always remember it being so high to look at! Optimus charity projects are always for a great cause and this is no different. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the team rallies together and copes with this one (I know we have a few scared of heights!)
Mikey - Account Manager
Optimus are always awesome when fundraising for amazing charities. I have personally run 6 half marathons in a year previously for Optimus, abseiling off a football stadium certainly is a daunting prospect. I happen to know a couple of people within the company are scared of heights, but Optimus always pull through and complete the task in front of them!
Ryan - Account Manager
As an ardent Argyle supporter and a relatively keen abseiler, I can’t wait to undertake the challenge of abseiling off Home Park stadium! I’m especially honoured to take part in this challenge for such an amazing charity after a difficult thirteen months for the charity sector.
Martin - Technical Services Manager
I’ve never liked heights and get very nervous around them, but this will be an experience of a lifetime and for such a great cause! I think the adrenaline and the atmosphere will be incredible, including the support from my friends, families, colleagues and loved ones.
Jess – Senior Account Support
I'm so excited for this new experience even though I'm very nervous! I've taken part before in charity events with Optimus and it is a great way to help raise funds for important causes. Looking forward to it and Good luck to everyone! Elise Landrieu-Bratu, Senior Account Manager
