Some Dads with children at Orford School, based on the Suffolk Coast are doing a marathon swim to raise money for the school. On September 14th 2008, we will enter the fast flowing Alde & Ore Estuary at Aldeburgh and swim the five miles to Orford village quay.
The aim is to raise funds to purchase a wind turbine for the school which will help the children learn about the growing importance of energy resources in the world they live in. We also want to support our small village school which plays a vital role in the life of the local community.
The team are Dom "Kipper" Kilburn, Tony "Minnow" Pick, Dave "Lumpfish" Pannell, Darren "Plankton" Jones, Tim "Marlin" Hannon, Steve "Dogfish" Gray, Jaco "Orca" Coetze and Tim "Dory" Reed.
Training is going well, and at this rate, we may even make a significant boost to London 2012 as well...
Jumping jelly fish and monstrous mullets aside, we all hope to complete this massive challenge in less than three hours.. Crew of the RNLI's Aldeburgh inshore lifeboat have agreed to accompany us on our journey to ensure we arrive safely. To show our appreciation, 10% of the funds raised will be donated to the RNLI.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. Your money passes through St Edmundsbury & Ipswich DBF and the whole lot is passed on to the school. if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation
We thank you for any support you can give us.
