Organic Soul officially was formed in the month of Ramadan of 2012 when the organisers Shaykh/teacher came to visit Manchester from Cyprus several year ago. As they walked through the city centre and noticed the homeless on the street of Manchester. Our teacher said that there were was too many Homeless people and that the best thing that they could do to support the homeless was to feed them. After sometime due to some logistic issues the team decided to start daily homeless feeds during Ramadan, the month in which Muslims Fast between sunrise and sunset. After Ramadan the team wanted to continue with the feeds but carried on as a weekly Feed on Friday. 4 years later the team decided to also come out on a Monday as well as Friday to support the homeless. During the month of Ramadan the team continues to carry out daily feeds for the entire month.
In 2019 Organic Soul joined Bury Support Network to start a food bank for Local people who needed support with food parcels especially for asylum seekers and refugees whose need was for Halal food which no one was catering for. During the Covid 19 pandemic there became an increased need for their support across the whole borough and they are now serving the whole community with food parcels with no discrimination after going through a referral system in which is carried out by statutory services and the public can self-refer too.
Being Real also started in 2019 to serve the local community and to those who are looking into Islam to connect/reconnect them to Faith and Community whilst learning about Spirituality. These are monthly gatherings with a talk/discussion that provides people with much needed sense of community whilst upholding that safe space in which people are free to ask questions.
