We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

You have the opportunity to win a luxury weekend in New York by helping to raise thousands of pounds for the NSPCC.

Colin White, Justin Hodgin, John-Paul Caffery and James Davis who all work in the legal and accounting executive search sectors have taken on the challenge of running this year's London Marathon to raise cash for the NSPCC.

And to encourage sponsors to come forward, the team has offered a five-star weekend break in New York to the sponsor who can guess the combined time for how long it will take them to complete the 26 mile course.

The idea of running the marathon for the children's charity came from Colin and Justin's membership of the Birmingham Business Group for the NSPCC. Colin, Managing Director of Ortus Professional Search explained, “It is a great opportunity for us to raise more funds for such a worthwhile cause and we encourage anyone who feels they can help with our aim to get in touch”.

In January the group helped raise over £40,000 for the charity at its annual ball at Birmingham's International Convention Centre, and Colin and Justin hope the team's marathon effort on April 22 can raise a further £15,000.  Justin, Managing Director of Practice Matters commented, “it’s a big challenge for all four of us and we are very hopeful that our months of preparation will result in some generous donations, both corporate and personal”.

The team has the official backing of the NSPCC and from Pertemps, whose venture capital arm backs each of the companies involved.  Chairman Tim Watts has donated the trip to New York to help with the fund-raising effort.

For a minimum pledge of £20, (feel free to pledge whatever you wish but to make the competition fair, we need a minimum of £20 for each entry) each sponsor has a chance to guess the combined time it will take the four members of the team to finish the marathon. The sponsor with the closest guess will win the weekend break in the Big Apple.  Once you have made your pledge, please email your estimate to colin.white@ortussearch.com where it will go on the competition spreadsheet!

In addition to sponsorship from individuals, the team also has a number of corporate sponsorship opportunities on offer.  For additional enquiries, contact Colin on 08709 500 434 or e-mail colin.white@ortussearch.com
