Story

Muscular Dystrophy UK like many other charities is feeling the effects of Covid-19 and really needs help with fundraising to continue to provide vital support & advice for people like us living with a progressive muscle wasting disease. This has happened at a time when children like us are relying on them more than ever, as our condition makes us more vulnerable to the virus.

3 of our friends' parents were going to run the London Marathon on 26th April to raise funds but this event has had to be rescheduled for October and MDUK needs our help now as they are facing a huge loss of income! All charity events have had to be cancelled and they may not able to help everyone they normally help, or carry on funding essential research into treatment for FSHD and other types of dystrophy.

So to take the place of the 26.2 miles of the Marathon, we are going to attempt to do 26 continuous laps of our garden (we'd normally manage 5 or 6). This is going to be a tough challenge for us as we're not meant to over exert our muscles as damage is permanent and won't repair. We'll take it slow and steady and complete it as safely as possible.

We'll start our challenge on 26th April at 2.06pm and post updates/pics of how we've done.

Facioscapulohumeral dystrophy (FSHD) is a genetic muscle-wasting condition caused by a gene mutation. It primarily affects the face, shoulders and upper arms but eventually can cause weakness across the whole body. It makes it difficult for Oscar and Sebastian to smile or eat normally, and makes any physical activity much harder for them than their peers.

Please help us by donating £2.60 (or what you can afford) to this brilliant charity because #musclesmatter!
