Story
On 6th September 2022 our lives were made brighter with the new addition to the family. My darling nephew Otis. My brother and sister in law were and still are fantastic parents. They both took to parenting brilliantly and Otis soon became their world - along with their dog Pebbles!
On the Friday after Otis was born I drove all the way to London to spend the day where I had cuddles and watched in awe at my brother at what a magnificent father he was and saw the love in his eyes at his new son and mother of his child. My brother has always been a fantastic uncle but to see him with Otis was beautiful. My sister in law was truly amazing and completely out shone any expectations I had. Otis was content and peaceful all of the time but mostly when he was with his Mum and Dad.
Otis then came with his parents to Warwickshire - which is where I live to meet his cousins (my 4 children) My children were in love and would argue who would see him first and hold him.
When we waved bye that weekend we did not expect what was going to happen next ....
Sunday 9th October 2022, I received a call from my mother in distress on her way to London. I instructed her to pick me up first so that she wasn't travelling alone. Getting to the hospital unsure on what news we would be greeted with. Then came the news no one wants to hear ...
'I'm sorry'
Otis passed away peacefully in his sleep on 9th October 2022 aged 4weeks 5days.
So thats the background of why I have picked The Lullaby Trust. However those that know me, know how lazy I am. I begrudge walking to the shop around the corner let alone a half marathon, but truth be told I am struggling with the death of Otis more than I wanted to believe or show. So much guilt, so much hurt, wanting to support but not to be too pushy or become intrusive. So for that reason I have decided to run this and put my effort into supporting the charity my brother and sister in law donate to.
Please give what you can.
I will keep you updated with my progress. Just be warned it might be slow as I have to actually manage the walk to the shops first (joke)😅🤣
My focus is completleing the run not within a time frame- well actually before the car at the end would be ideal 🤞

A poem written by my daughter aged 7
Twinkle twinkle Otis bear
Why is life so unfair
Even for the 4 short weeks
Our lives were nothing but complete
We loved your 10 tiny fingers and your 10 tiny toes but nothing compared to your sweet button nose
One short cuddle is all we got
If we knew we would of had the lot
Please come back to play our games
And break us free from these chains
We love you more than you would know
So much more than we could show
Twinkle twinkle Otis bear
Why is life so unfair
Don't be scared go to sleep
We will try not to weep
My mummy says you're a star
Shining bright from afar
Send your mummy and daddy a sign
So they will know that youre fine
Twinkle twinkle Otis Bear
Why is life so unfair
